“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
– Proverbs 3:5-6
“Pursue truth for truth’s sake and not because it agrees with us.”
I find that many people believe, or disbelieve, a religion based on whether they like its claims. They are satisfied with a religion that has pretty ideas that don’t cause too much controversy and that answers a lot of questions. Is truth in itself not important though? I would rather believe something that was messed up but true, than something that made sense but was false. As good as a religion may sound, if it’s not true, then it’s not true. As crappy as a religion may sound, if it’s false, then it’s false. I’m not making any claims as to which ones are true and which ones are not. I’m merely trying to say that, isn’t there some intrinsic value to searching for truth rather than just for its utility?
